4.4.2024. As we move into what is usually a wonderful time of year with everything coming to life, we are still in the long-wet spell that we have been experiencing since the autumn. Mother nature is trying her best and the hedge rows are starting to come to life. I am always a little sad when we leave spring because all the lovely bulbs that we have sold lots of are coming to an end. But the lovely lavender plants are starting to be available as well as all the bedding plants which will provide plenty of colour over the summer months finger crossed, they are drier months.

7.12.2023. December is well and truly here. The shop is full of Christmas flowers and plants, our stunning array of door wreathes are going out of the shop as fast as we can make them, I love this time of year our planted arrangements are particularly special, hyacinths are probably our most popular, but mixed platers always sell well. As we getting closer to the last week before Christmas our Christmas Bouquets and table arrangements, roses & lilies are always a favourite but amaryllis main in reds or whites are always in big demand. Enjoy December, we always do!

22.10.23 It is a toss up which is my favourite time of year, spring always brings hope of new growth and beginnings and a good summer (hopefully)to look forward to. Autumn on the other hand is a time for nature to show us what trees and fields have produced in the past months, the colours change from lovely greens to browns yellows & burnt oranges as the trees, foliage’s & grasses give us what I consider natures brightest gift. In the shop our focus moves to the autumnal shades then to Halloween and around now Christmas starts to make an appearance. Our Christmas showcase s on Friday & Saturday the 10th & 11th of November.

10.5.23 Spring is moving over to very early summer and peony season is upon us, at this time of year there is nothing better than a scented bouquet containing lovely stocks, peonies, alstromeria and lush foliage (lots of other flowers are available) We also have a wide selection of summer plants. Our wide array of workshops are proving to be very popular, please view our website page for availability.

21.2.2023, How the time flies when you are having fun, (or when you are very busy at work) the end of January came around so quickly and Valentine’s day was soon upon us. 14.1.2023, Winter is well and truly upon us and the dry autumn we had seem a distant memory. Christmas & new year have come and gone. We are open every Sunday up to Christmas from 10 am – 3 pm, Have a wonder December!

14.9.2022. After the recent death of our wonderful Queen! we feel it is only right to close the shop on the day of her funeral. We will re-open on Tuesday 20th Sept. As Children of the 60’s The Queen has always been a constant in our lives and provided a steadying hand to what has been a period of massive changes for our country and the world. Thank you your Majesty may you rest in peace.

18.8.2022. What a month! At the beginning of the August, we had the pleasure of creating the flowers for our own son Andrew’s wedding where he married the lovely Lucie at the delightful Meols Hall at Churchtown near Southport, a venue we have never done a wedding at. We were not disappointed and the whole day (including the weather) was fantastic. The day was very special for all especially a very proud Mum & Dad.

16.5.2022. As the middle of May approaches we are seeing summer flowers and plants coming through the shop, Sweet Williams, Alliums, Sun flowers and the lovely peonies are now in abundance as cut flowers and we have a wonderful summer flowers range on our website https://www.theflower-shop.co.uk/shop/Summer_Flowers.aspx, We are now running a weekly special offer for customers visiting the shop, this week is 25% off all artificial wreaths, theses offers will be listed on the website when our re-design goes live over the next week or so. And on our social media pages.

22.4.22. As we come to the end of April spring is in full bloom the days are getting longer, as the temperature warms a little we can look forward to summer. On certain Saturdays over the next few weeks we are looking to try a few new ideas in the shop. First bring your own vase to the shop and one of our florists will help you chose a selection of blooms and foliage then show how best arrange them in your vase (please keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram & the website for the dates) Customers who take part will receive 10% discount on flowers purchased. If this proves popular we will repeat it on a regular basis.

1.4.2022 April fool’s day and also the week after Mother’s Day, what a weekend, the weather was stunning and our wonderful customers kept coming into the shop for flowers & plants, I love the whole atmosphere of Mothering Sunday weekend (especially when the sun shines) we were able to keep a lovely selection of bouquets and arrangements available for customers to browse and make a choice for their Mum. Deliveries kept being ordered and although Sunday is challenging because we can’t start our first deliveries to early, and then most people want the delivery before lunch time so not a big window for us, but our 6 wonderful drivers seemed to manage. The weekend is hard work on all the staff and we must thank them for their efforts.

5.3.2022. March is finally here and the days a certainly feeling a little longer. The bright spring sunshine is very welcome for us and the bulbs that have in hibernation waiting for this time to push their heads up and brighten our days after the long winter months. I love this time of year and we always sell lots of different primulas, narcissi, muscari, tulips etc. to customers who just want a little bit of colour in their lives. With spring cut flowers also in full swing, we can create the most wonderful mixed spring flower bouquets & planters.  Mothering Sunday or Mother’s Day if you prefer is at the end of the month which is our busiest week of the year, and we are putting together a wonderful selection of flowers & gifts for collection or delivery

1.2.2022. January has come and gone and we are now building towards Valentine’s day, but first it’s always lovely at this time of year when tulips and other spring flowers come into season. We sell lots of mixed spring flower bouquets and planters containing lots of spring bulbs over the next few months and it does bring a smile to the face of many a recipient when they receive a lovely arrangement or bouquet of spring flowers or bulbs. Red roses are still the most popular item to send to a loved one on Valentine’s day and we have pre-ordered ours in early January to secure the prices so we can keep cost as close as possible to last year. As an alternative we always have available lots of bouquets some including a single red rose also mixed rose bouquets and beautifully presented single roses

8.1.2021, Happy new year! As we move into 2022, we must thank all out wonderful customers for their much apricated support over the last 12 months, 2021 was a year of contradictions! From going back into lockdown at the beginning of January and worrying how many flowers to order for Valentine’s Day & Mothers’ Day because customers weren’t allowed into the shop, to wondering how we were going to deal with the backlog of weddings during the summer months. In both cases we needn’t have worried our wonderful customers didn’t let us down and deliveries and collections ordered online or over the phone were at record levels. Our staff really stepped up during the summer with the weddings and we must thank them for that. Fingers crossed that although we are seeing higher cases of covid than ever before we haven’t yet had to go into another lockdown although “plan B” restrictions are a reminder that that could always soon change

15.12.2021, As we are now officially in the final run up to Christmas, the shop is full of Christmas flowers & plants. Hyacinthine bulbs come in several colours “white is my favourite” and are always popular at this time of year, due to the lovely scent they give off, we have them as single bulbs, planted in lots of different containers in two, threes right up to stunning bowls containing over 30.  Cyclamens particularly in red’s & white are considered a must by lots of customers, Jasmine hoops, amaryllis bulbs, Christmas cactus and the very popular succulents are a few examples of our selection.

Flowers are very important at Christmas and the last few days is always extremely busy for deliveries and collections of our Stunning bouquets & arrangements, red green and golds is a regular request but whites & silvers is also popular. Over the last couple of years eucalyptus (particularly cineraria) has become a request from lots of customers either in their bouquet or as a bunch to add to wreaths or place in vase for its lovely scent. Have a wonderful Christmas from everyone at The Flower shop Clitheroe, and please order early to avoid disappointment.

16.11.21 As we head into the start of winter we have been very fortunate this year that the trees have kept their leaves well into November, which has enabled us to see the most wonderful autumnal tints that nature come up with each year to ease our move into the longer winter nights. Autumn weddings have been very popular and a change from the pale pinks & nudes of many summer weddings. We have now to look forward to Christmas and our shop is full of wonderful festive decorations and soon the first Christmas door wreaths will start being created. We try to have a wide selection to choose from but if you’re after a more bespoke design please call in or phone the shop.

5.10.21 After an amazingly busy couple of months, with more weddings than I care to count things have settled down a little there are still plenty of weddings but not every day of the week as has been the case in the summer, it is now time to look forward to Autumn and we are moving from the summer flowers & colours we have been used to, the stunning rusts, oranges & yellows which are a welcome change, Gourds and mini pumpkins have become very popular over the last few years and we are selling lots of Autumnal wreaths and lots of dried & artificial stems. Christmas products that we ordered in early February have now started to be delivered to the shop and are being readied for display.

14.8.21 Wedding season is well and truly here! Couples who have postponed their nuptials over the last 18 months have finally been allowed to have the wedding they wanted with almost no restrictions, Wedding suppliers like us have suddenly gone from virtually no events to lots of weddings, also venues have gone from a skeleton staff keeping them ticking over to wedding on most days in the month of August.

8.7.21. Summer has well and truly arrived and so have weddings! Couples are at last able to plan their special day with more certainty than for nearly 18 months, we have also had lots of deliveries of lovely new stock for the shop from LSA Glass, Casa Grande, St. Eval Candles, Terrace & Garden pots, Coach House & Grand Illusions. So the shop has lots of exciting new things to view.

11.6.21 We are now just over a week away from the long awaited date of the 21st June which we have all been hoping would be the return to a more normal life. At the moment this seems unlikely, with the rise in cases particularly in the North West. Couples who were hoping that their weddings would be able to go ahead without number restrictions are again wondering what they we be able to do, we will have to wait a few days to see what the announcement says.  In the shop we have some wonderful summer flowers including wonderful Peonies, Sweet Williams, Alchemilla, Lissianthus, Sunflowers and much more.

15.5.21 The weather has finally started to become warmer and we have sold a lot of gardens plants over the last couple of weeks. Small weddings have at last started and we have lots of couples getting excited that their special day may finally be able to happen over the coming summer months, although it is difficult to work out if the 21st June is going to be an unrestricted return to normal? The prime minister was warning last night that the new variant may mean that some restrictions could still be used what that means is impossible to say at the moment, so fingers crossed.

29.4.21 Here we are at the end of April wondering where did the last four months go? And after nearly three weeks since we have been allowed customers back into the shop again it has been wonderful being able to talk to our customers face to face (well facemask to facemask) The days if not the nights have started to become warmer and we have lots of couples getting excited about finally being able to get married! Some have had to postpone their nuptials up to four times!  We are all hoping that this time on the 21st June couples will be able to say they vows and have the reception they have been planning without having to compromise those long-held plans. Fingers crossed.

13.4.2021 at last! We are very pleased to have customers back in the shop,  We are returning to a one way system around the shop with up five separate groups at any one time please bear with us at busy times.  To have people in the shop to order flowers & plants face to face is something we have missed greatly. We have a wide selection of plants & flowers for delivery or collection, also a full selection of St Eval candles.

27.3.2021, As we approach Easter weekend, for the 1st time in 25 years we are closed on Good Friday the 2nd April, normally we have lots of weddings over the Easter weekend but due to Covid-19 we haven’t any. Spring has well and truly sprung and we have lots of lovely spring flowers that are being delivered or collected in stunning bouquets & arrangements which are brightening up lots of people’s days as we move towards the longer days and sunnier weather. Spring bulbs are also in abundance at the time and we have lots of stunning planters. At Easter white lilies are always in demand, we recommend buying yours earlier in the which will give their stunning white heads time to open, Happy Easter to all! we are looking forward to welcoming customers back into the shop from Monday the 12th April.

15.3.2021 What a week Mother’s Day week is always very busy, but this year proved to be extra busy. In these strange times we were a little nervous when ordering our large pre-orders in the last week of February from our suppliers but we made some good decisions and it meant we weren’t as affected with the increase in prices that a flower supply peak like Mother’s Day can mean, Tulips were very much in demand and it was nice to be able to buy some excellent UK grown tulips. Thank you to all our customers for your continued support and to our wonderful but very tired staff for the extra hours they put in.

2.3.2021 March is upon us and Mothering Sunday is less than two weeks away. Our florists have been busy creating The Flower shops Mother’s Day range which is available for delivery locally and click & collect at  https://www.theflower-shop.co.uk/shop/Mothers_Day.aspx We are delivering Friday, Saturday & Sunday and looking forward making as many Mum’s happy as possible! Mothering Sunday it's self is always very busy for deliveries so if possible, please request Friday or Saturday for delivery.

19.2.2021 As we recover from the very busy Valentines weekend it is noticeable that the days are getting longer if not warmer, we are starting to feel spring is on its way! We are very lucky that nature reminds us of this with the beautiful spring flowers and bulbs which are now available, Tulips, narcissi, hyacinths along with scented broom means we are able to create some lovely scented bouquets and planted baskets & containers. Check out “spring in a tin” on our web shop.  https://www.theflower-shop.co.uk/flowers/Spring_in_a_Tin.aspx which is very popular.

7.2.2021 Valentines week is upon us and despite the weather turning colder things are warming up nicely and love is in the air. Online and telephone orders are coming in for our stunning red rose bouquets & arrangements as well as florist selected bouquets with a single rose in the centre, scented candles, chocolates & balloons can be added. From our 25+ years of delivering valentines flowers we can assure you there is nothing like the look on a recipients face when they receive a bouquet on Valentines day. Don’t forget to book your delivery or collection!! We are working in the shop on Sunday the 14th February from 9am-4pm.

28.1.20 Well it looks like we are going have a covid-19 lockdown Valentine’s day. The 14th February is on a Sunday this year, which normally means a slightly quieter day for shop because there are not many work place deliveries, however because couples can’t go out to celebrate it’s starting to look like this could be a busy weekend for deliveries! With this in mind please order your Bouquets for delivery or collection as soon as possible it will help with our stock management.

18.1.2021, As the vaccine is rolled out and we all wait our turn to be called for ours, we have been working at the back of the shop providing deliveries for orders placed on-line and over the phone, we are also providing click & collect (just select that option when ordering online) or phone us and we will have your order ready to collect from our door. Fingers crossed that as days grow longer and hopefully warmer! We will be able to allow customer back into the shop sooner rather than later.

5.1.2021 Back to lockdown today but in truth for us lockdown is not much of a difference to Tier 4. We are still able to carry out contactless deliveries and click & collect from the shop in Clitheroe, order for both online at www.theflower-shop.co.uk or phone the shop 01200422435 8.30 am-4 pm Monday-Saturday. At the moment we have a good supply of fresh flowers mainly from Holland and so far there have not been any hold ups when the trucks cross the channel so fingers crossed that this continues.

30.12.2020 From 8.30am on Thursday 31st December we will only be delivering flowers and offering pre-arranged collections.

As we approach 2021 we are again having to close the shop to customers due to Covid-19, we are also going to find out what effects (if any) Brexit is going to have on fresh flowers supplies from Holland. With this in mind please allow us to be flexible with flower substitutions in your chosen bouquets & arrangements in case of some shortages.

27.12.20 Well what a week we had! The week leading up to Christmas has always been very busy and this year was no exception. The difference for us this year was how were we going to cope the number of customers wanting to buy flowers plants & gifts in the last four days, with all the social distancing rules, we decided after the first lockdown to use a one-way system around the shop and to limit the number of people/groups in the shop to five at any one time, this has served us well. Mainly due to the good will & understanding of our wonderful customers! So, we must thank you all not only for your custom but for your good humour and patience. We hope you all have had a good Christmas.

10.12.2020 Wow! what a week, lockdown has ended and we have customers allowed back into the shop at last. The Christmas spirit is well and truly alive in Clitheroe and we are very grateful to our wonderful customers for being patient while we manage the social distancing and all that entails, thank any of you who have had to wait to enter the shop.

26.11.20 Well the new tiers are in and we along with the rest of Lancashire are in tier 3, which means we are back the same place as before the 2nd lockdown. From Wednesday the 2nd we will be able to have customers in the shop again, which is some good news.  Orders placed by phone or online are still available for delivery or click & collect and we very much look forward to seeing and hearing from you soon.

Christmas wreaths for your door are in full swing and as the month goes on we will have plenty festive bouquets, flower arrangements and plants.

Sunday 8th Nov 2020, As we get used to lock down no2, we have been busy getting lots of our Christmas decorations, door wreaths, candles & artificial trees etc available to purchase on our website, so if  you can’t wait until the 3rd December to see them, please view our Christmas section.

Sunday 1st Nov 2020. We have been waiting to post our latest update for any major change, and now we have them.   After a promising summer and autumn where we have been so thankful for the support and good will shown by our wonderful customers, we now have to revert back to how things were in May & June. From Thursday the 5th November we will be offering alongside our normal delivery service socially distanced click & collect, please try give 2 hours’ notice! If you would like to incorporate your own ideas please give us a call.  Take care and stay safe, we hope to see you soon.  Jim, Linda & all The Flower Shop team.

14.9.2020, Dried flowers have become one of the most sought after interior trends around at the moment! They are filling our Instagram feeds and interiors magazines. We started seeing this dried flower trend emerge in wedding flowers, through Pampas grass and dried foliage elements creeping into big archways and bridal bouquets. However, this trend has now spread thorough into our homes and our gift bouquets! We carry a large selection of natural and bleached along with the most wonderful dyed pampas.

15th Aug 2020 At last!  We finally had our 1st wedding since the 20th March!  It will be several months before weddings return to the number of guests allowed that will enable venues to be viable, but at least we have made a start.

24th July 2020

After the government’s latest announcement last week, we wanted to update you on what has been happening here at The Flower shop, Lots of weddings have had to postpone and move to new dates later this year or to 2021/22, the future for the next few months! Covid 19 has affected the wedding industry (along with many others) in a huge way. Most weddings are based on gatherings with the coming together of friends and family from all over the country and quite often from around the world. Weddings focus around love, happiness, dancing, social interaction with lots of hugging and kissing! It is therefore not a great surprise that weddings are going to be continually affected by the pandemic. It is positive news that weddings are able to go ahead of course, and now with the news that we can have up to 30 people in attendance afterwards at a reception. While this news is very welcome it is only the first step in returning weddings and other functions to the number of guest needed for them to be viable for the wonderful venues we have in the Ribble valley.

News and updates from The Flower Shop team!

15th  May 2020,

We are very pleased to have customers back in the shop, to have people in the shop to order flowers & plants face to face is something we have missed greatly. We have a wide selection of plants & flowers for delivery or collection, also a full selection of St Eval candles.

15.3.2021 What a week Mother’s Day week is always very busy, but this year proved to be extra busy. In these strange times we were a little nervous when ordering our large pre-orders in the last week of February from our suppliers but we made some good decisions and it meant we weren’t as affected with the increase in prices that a flower supply peek like Mother’s Day can mean, Tulips were very much in demand and it was nice to be able to buy some excellent UK grown tulips. Thank you to all our customers for your continued support and to our wonderful but very tired staff for the extra hours they put in.
